After hearing about it from practically everyone and seeing it in the hands of everyone else a few years back, I'm finally reading eat pray love - thanks to my generous, book-sharing friend, Katie. I have favorite authors and even what I thought were favorite books, for varying reasons, but this book... This is the first book I've ever read that makes me feel like it was actually written for me. I want to crawl inside this book and live in it. (Even during the rawest of parts.)
I've thought about it but haven't before written a letter to an author after a thoroughly amazing experience reading their book but, Elizabeth Gilbert, plan to receive one from me soon. Wait...have you heard this before, Elizabeth Gilbert? That is, how wonderful this little piece of written art of yours is, and how some random, American woman feels it speaks to her life? Well, in that case, just add me to the list of gushers - albeit four years after you decided to share this and an inundation of letters, e-mails, and gleeful moments at book signings ensued. Okay, moving on.
Admission - I'm not actually a big reader but at the moment, I have a list of books beginning to pile up that have my patiently-waiting eyes' and mind's attention. Here are just a few:
The Autobiography of a Yogi - Paramahansa Yogananda
The Tree of Yoga - B.K.S. Iyengar
Life of Pi - Yann Martel
The Pilgrimage - Paulo Coelho
Come Be My Light - Mother Teresa
I've also been looking for a good one discussing the chakras, if even one that ties in the practice of yoga. Any recommendations?
What's on your reading list for this year?
I knew you would love it! We'll have to go see the movie when it comes out. :)

I love Pima Chodrin, and find her books spiritually fulfilling as well as wise and moving. Much healing in her books.

as far as Eat pray love.....really? I just found her journey to be so removed from most people's everyday lives, and she lives in such abundance and overindulges in order to " find her basic spiritual self". I don't know...I was just offended by her self indulgance, self-congratulatory air.
